Like my guest today, Erin Treloar, founder of RAW Beauty Talks, media has often played a significant role in my self-confidence growing up. As a child born in the ‘80s — a.k.a. the supermodel generation, a decade when beauty was lauded as a woman’s highest form of currency — it was almost impossible as a young woman not to place your sense of self-worth on your outward appearance. Despite being told it’s what’s on the inside that counts, media does a pretty great job at showing us otherwise.
Erin couldn’t find body-positive female role models to look up to after suffering from an eating disorder that left her weighing 89lbs on her 5’11”-frame. So she founded RAW Beauty Talks as a place to celebrate the natural beauty and uniqueness of real women — without makeup and Photoshop — making a difference.
In today’s interview, I sit down with Erin in her home in Vancouver to chat all about growing up in an entrepreneurial household, her mission and vision for RAW Beauty Talks and why she would encourage all listeners to pursue their passions and trust the universe.
